Situated in a prime location: in the heart of Old Lucerne with an unique atmosphere, the «Wilden Mann» was first mentioned in old Lucerne in 1517 and then again I 1529 as a pub without a license to operate as a tavern. However such a license is mentioned in records of the year 1726.
The original Baroque architecture has disappeared but the typically Belle Epoque complex of the seven communicated buildings is today part of the historically significant urban texture and an important piece in the jigsaw puzzle of Lucerne’s tourist history.
The façade of the building has largely been restored to the original glory of the second half of the 19th century. In 1908 the restaurant «Burgerstube» was exquisitely redesigned in the Neo-Gothic style, the wood wainscoting is richly decorated with woodcarvings and many hued frames. The original style of the fireplace, lamps and furniture has also been preserved.
